Of all the hands-on training courses offered by the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College at Hainan University (HAITC), the cocktail making class is one of the most popular. It consists of three sessions, with each one covering the preparation methods for six or more classic cocktails.

During the course, students not only learn practical skills such as how to select the right spirits, mix ingredients in proper proportions and garnish cocktail glasses, but are also encouraged to create their own drinks. Under the guidance of the instructor, students are divided into groups and receive a hands-on experience. Some manage to craft delicious cocktails, while others encounter failure due to incorrect ratios or decorations. Regardless of the outcome, they thoroughly enjoy the process, embracing the fun and creativity that cocktail making brings.

“The class teaches me how to make delicious cocktails and opens my eyes to the limitless possibilities of creativity,” said one student. “Every time I create a new cocktail, the sense of accomplishment and joy is beyond words. I used to pay to drink cocktails made by others — now I can make them myself!”
