Inaugural Science and Culture Festival kicks off at Hainan University

The campus-level trial of the 13th National College Student E-commerce “Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship” Challenge (also known as the Sanchuang Cup) was held on April 15 at Hainan University, marking the beginning of the first academic competition of the inaugural HNU Science and Culture Festival.

Jointly organized by HNU's International Tourism College, Tourism College, Agricultural and Rural Development College (Rural Revitalization College) and the Applied Science and Technology College, the event attracted 176 teams from 23 colleges, totaling more than 800 students. 

Launched in 2009, the Sanchuang Cup aims to stimulate the interest and potential of college students, cultivate their innovation and creative thinking abilities, entrepreneurship and team spirit. 

A highly influential national event, the Sanchuang Cup ranks 13th out of 57 events listed in the National Higher Education Student Competition Rankings released by the China Higher Education Association. 

The participating teams of the Sanchuang Cup come from 35 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and special administrative regions in China, and the number of teams registered for this year's national competition is nearly 140,000.

The school-level trial of HNU has concluded, awarding five special prizes, 10 first prizes, 20 second prizes, and 30 third prizes. Fifteen teams will participate in the provincial trial on behalf of HNU in mid-May.

Those in attendance of the event included Chen Jun, vice-president of the HNU, Chen Qing, secretary of the Hainan University Youth League Committee, and Liu Yufu, head of Admission and Employment Department.
