HAITC appears on UNWTO website
The HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College of Hainan University (HAITC) recently appeared on the website of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for celebrating World Tourism Day, which showcased the social responsibility and ever-growing international influence of Chinese tourism institutions.
The college has participated in the celebration for two consecutive years since 2020. Under the initiative of its international staff, HAITC held various activities to celebrate the day in 2020 and was mentioned on the UNWTO website for the first time.
HAITC is nominated by the UNWTO website.
World Tourism Day, celebrated on Sept 27 each year, focuses on fostering awareness of the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism, as well as its contribution to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UNWTO has designated “tourism for inclusive growth” as the theme of the day, aiming at drawing more attention to those who have positively contributed to tourism growth.
HAITC designs posters for attending the world tourism day activities.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about tremendous social and economic impacts. Both developed and developing economies have been hit. Marginalized and highly-vulnerable groups have experienced the worst suffering.
The resumption of tourism will boost economic recovery and growth. The UNWTO calls on its member countries, non-member countries, sister institutions, enterprises and individuals to value the unique position of tourism in impartially benefiting all groups.
