HAITC researches Sino-foreign cooperative education with XJTLU

Leaders of the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College, Hainan University (HAITC) visit Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) to research Sino-foreign cooperative education on July 13.

Administrators and teacher representatives of the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College, Hainan University (HAITC), visited Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) to attend a training course on sustainable development of Sino-foreign cooperative education on July 13. 

Wang Lin, dean of HAITC, and He Yingmin, secretary of the HAITC Party Committee led the team in the four-day activity.

Related departments from Hainan University (HNU), secondary schools that intend to develop Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and authorities from Hainan Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone Administration also attended the training course.

Wu Yaoting, secretary of the HNU Party Committee and deputy director of the Hainan Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone Administration, who was on an investigation trip to XJTLU, came to visit the class.

Wu spoke highly of the training program and suggested closer cooperation between HAITC and XJTLU. 

The training course includes four sections and 16 topics. It was tailored by the Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development (ILEAD) of XJTLU to improve the international education quality of HNU and strengthen the construction of the "Pacesetting Island for international-oriented education" in Hainan.

Xi Youmin, executive president of XJTLU, attended the program and talked about the "student-centered and research-oriented teaching mode" based on XJTLU's ten-odd-year experience in school management.

Xi also shared XJTLU's management structure, Party building affairs, ideological and political education, practical training, production and education integration, curriculum and scientific research quality system, student affairs, international faculty management, international communication and brand building as well as potential challenges and coping strategies.

During the seminar, participants form HAITC and XJTLU exchanged ideas on topics of home-school relationship cultivation, students' mental health, teaching and scientific research, as well as teaching environment and learning experience.

The class was also invited to visit the campus and school history exhibition hall of XJTLU after the seminar.

Faculty and staff participating in the program believed the practices of XJTLU provide certain reference for the internationalized education of HNU and the construction of the Pacesetting Island for international-oriented education. 

With further communication and cooperation, HAITC and XJTLU will jointly push forward the reform of higher education in China.
