HNU honored by mathematical contest

In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM), on Nov 18, 2021, 190 national outstanding instructors and 51 outstanding organizers commended the committee of the CUMCM. 

CUMCM is a contest for undergraduates all over the world organized by the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM). It has been held annually since 1992. In the year of 2021, 49,529 teams with more than 140,000 students from 1,566 institutions from all over the country, the United States, Malaysia, and other countries participated in the contest. It has become one of the most influential extracurricular scientific and technological activities for college students in China.

Lin Haichan, a teacher of HNU's School of Science, was awarded the national "excellent organization worker," and He Wenfeng was awarded the honorary title of the "national excellent instructor." Meanwhile, Li Zhilin, Ou Yigui, Wang Zhigang, Shu Xingming, Wang Haohua, and Wang Xin who have participated in the guidance of the CUMCM for more than 15 years won "silver coach" medals. The CSIAM and the Hainan Provincial Department of Education awarded Wang Xin the "excellent instructor in Hainan division in 2021."
