A thesis by Ye Guangliang, vice president of Hainan University (HNU), and his doctoral student Cheng Long on the anticompetitive effects of a vertical merger was published in this year's eighth issue of Social Sciences in China.

Founded in 1980, Social Sciences in China is one of China's most respected journals devoted to social sciences and humanities. It focuses on the latest research and publishes articles, surveys, and reviews on Marxist studies, philosophy, economics, political science, sociology, ethnology, history, education, literature, and linguistics.

A thesis by Ye Guangliang and his doctoral student Cheng Long on the anticompetitive effects of a vertical merger is published in Social Sciences in China.

This is the first time a thesis on economic management with a HNU professor as its primary author has been published in the magazine. The thesis analyses how partial mergers between upstream and downstream enterprises affect collusive stability and provides a theoretical foundation for antimonopoly law enforcement organizations to evaluate the anticompetitive practices of operators.

Ye is a high-level talent and a Cheung Kong Scholar (Youth) recruited by HNU to improve the stature of the university. His research focuses on industrial economics, industrial organization theory, and anti-monopoly and anti-competition policies.

He has published several dozen papers in numerous prestigious journals, including Organization Science, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, International Journal of Industrial Organization, and Journal of Comparative Economics.
