Beijing, Hainan to enhance medical cooperation

The Global Innovative Drug Symposium is commenced in Haikou, Hainan province on Sept 26.

The Global Innovative Drug Symposium commenced in Haikou, Hainan province on Sept 26, gathering more than 220 academicians, doctors and experts from 24 public hospitals in Beijing.

The symposium was held by parties including the Hainan Association for Medical Security, the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration and China Life Reinsurance.

It is expected that the event will promote the coordinated development of medical health between Beijing and Hainan.

Ma Jiye, head of the Beijing municipal medical insurance bureau, said that the bureau will enhance communication and cooperation with Hainan to integrate rich medical resources in Beijing and preferential policies in Lecheng to achieve the high-quality development of medical insurance.

Gu Gang, director of the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, expressed his hope that doctors in Beijing public hospitals can learn more about Lecheng through this symposium as well as about the application of innovative medicines and devices.

Gu said that the administration will further carry out trans-provincial cooperation to bring high-quality medical resources to more Chinese patients.

The symposium is six days long and will last until Sept 30 and has also set up sub-forums for sectors spanning lung cancer, hematology, urology and digestology.
