Ageing has become one of the major issues concerning societies globally and China is now gradually becoming an ageing society.
China has put forward that efforts will be made in moving forward with the development of its rehabilitation industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
The International Institute on Ageing, or INIA, is the only official standing body of the UN related to ageing. It is shouldering responsibilities to help promote the implementation of preferential ageing policies in countries around the world.
Meanwhile, the Boao Yiling Life Care Center is one of the first batch of companies to settle down in Lecheng in Hainan, having gained rich experience and outcomes from international cooperation.
Zhou Guoming, an official from the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, urged the INIA to offer more professional guidance and shared global experience with the Boao Yiling Life Center during the cooperation.
Zhou said the Boao Yiling Life Center should give full play to the preferential policies offered by the Hainan Free Trade Port and in Lecheng, to develop the aged health industry, providing better service solutions for the elderly all over China.
Liu Zhefeng, deputy head of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, said that the cooperation between the INIA and the Boao Yiling Life Center would marked an important step in developing industries related to services for the elderly in Lecheng.
Liu added that he hoped both sides would team up to build a top brand for rehabilitation in the Hainan FTP and make contributions to the development of Hainan's big health industry.
Marvin Vermosa, head of the INIA, said during a video speech that Hainan enjoyed excellent climate conditions, which was very beneficial for developing the rehabilitation industry. The cooperation with the Boao Yiling Life Center would be key in developing the "Chinese experience" for dealing with the ageing problem, he added.
