The 1st Boao Lecheng International Digestive Disease Forum and the Conference of World Association of Chinese Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists 2021 commences in Boao, Hainan province on Feb 27.

The 1st Boao Lecheng International Digestive Disease Forum and the Conference of the World Association of Chinese Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists 2021 commenced in Boao, Hainan province on Feb 27, attracting experts from home and abroad.

The event was held under the guidance of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission and the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration.

Exchanges and discussions were carried out among attendees during the two-day event on issues related to digestive diseases, such as the early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, new technologies in the digestive area, as well as the latest development trends in gastro-endoscopy.

Advanced 5G technologies were applied at the event to facilitate the real-time presentation of complex surgeries.

Wang Lu, vice governor of Hainan provincial government, delivered a video speech at the opening ceremony, expressing his hope that the event can continuously push forward the development of the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases.

Zhou Changqiang, head of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, said that he hopes the regular organization of professional conferences in Lecheng can help promote high-quality medical technologies and resources countrywide, right down to the community level, improving the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases at community-level hospitals in Hainan. 

Gu Gang, director of the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, noted that he hopes the event can further boost the development of the big health industry in Hainan.

Gu also invited outstanding experts to come to Lecheng for the pilot operation of innovative drugs, technologies and medical instruments and to make contributions to Lecheng's development. 

The Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration and the National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases will team up to build a digestive endoscopy center in Lecheng.

In addition, the two sides will conduct deep cooperation in areas such as the construction of advantageous disciplines, the transformation of innovative achievements, the cultivation of advanced talents, and the academic exchange of cutting-edge medical treatments.

The expert team from Beijing Friendship Hospital of Capital Medical University will practice in the center in Lecheng and carry out pilot operations with innovative drugs, technologies and medical instruments in gastro-endoscopy, making more breakthroughs in areas spanning the pathogenesis, early detection and treatment of complicated diseases and cancers.

The Boao Lecheng International Digestive Disease Forum will select Lecheng as its permanent venue.
