The Israel-Hainan Boao Lecheng Medical Technology Cooperation Signing Ceremony was held online on Oct 19, with both sides reaching cooperation in areas spanning rehabilitation transformation, high and new technology, innovative pharmaceutical equipment, as well as industrial funds.

The feasibility of introducing clinical rehabilitation into the rehabilitation hospital in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone was discussed during the ceremony, as well as issues in the overall planning and operation of the international exhibition and logistics center for pharmaceutical equipment.

As a global innovation center for life sciences, Israel is home to more than 1,500 life sciences companies, of which over 600 have gained FDA or CE approval. The annual export value of the Israeli life sciences industry amounted to $8.5 billion. The country has been a world leader in medical technologies and academic research, possessing high-caliber medical talents and high-quality medical equipment.

The cooperation between Israel and Boao Lecheng can not only showcase Hainan's global leading medical level, but also help more countries and regions see the advantages in developing the medical industry in Hainan Free Trade Port.

Liu Zhefeng, deputy director of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration Bureau, expressed his hope that more Israeli medical companies can settle in Boao Lecheng through online negotiations and contract signings.

"The cooperation space between Boao Lecheng and Israel is huge as more than 150 projects are under negotiations and five to 10 similar projects are scheduled to be signed by the end of this year. It is also expected that a series of medical innovation outcomes from Israel will be introduced to Boao Lecheng through further cooperation," said Wang Qin, director of the Boao Lecheng advanced medical technology transfer center (AMTTC).

Officials from the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration Bureau noted that a public opening platform will be set up, as well as service institutes for global pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers to achieve the transfer and application of their technologies and products.
