Established in July 2018, the China Stem Cell Group Affiliated Stem Cell Hospital, Boao, Hainan, is a comprehensive hospital specializing in blood diseases treatment. It was built in accordance with JCI international hospital attestation standards.

The hospital is under the construction and management of China Stem Cell Group, which has full stem cell licenses, including the People's Republic of China Blood Station License and the Stem Cell Hospital Medical Institution License issued by the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China.

The China Stem Cell Group has established bases in Shanghai, Hainan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, and Hong Kong, and operated businesses throughout the country. The group's national special blood station has the largest public resource bank of stem cells in China, with a success rate of 100 percent among the Chinese all over the world.

To date, the group has performed more than 4,200 stem cell transplants, a number unrivaled in China. Among the patients, 80.07 percent of them weighed more than 30 kg, and 61.81 percent were adult patients. The five-year survival rate of severe patients after transplantation reached 58.9 percent, which is at the international advanced level.

In 2018, a Pakistani patient accepted a cord blood hematopoietic stem cell transplant, which was the first case of a Chinese cord blood hematopoietic stem cell transplant to treat a foreign patient. In addition, the group has successfully performed transplants for nearly 100 thalassemia patients, and has accumulated rich clinical experience to carry out thalassemia treatment in Boao, Hainan.

The hospital covers a total construction area of 26,560 square meters, including 21,375 square meters for business use, and has three buildings for medical care, scientific research, and administration. The hospital boasts 100 sterile laminar flow wards with 235 common beds, and all are high-standard VIP rooms. It is equipped with a MVE1900 series gas-phase liquid nitrogen storage system, 100-level sterile laminar flow wards, a program-controlled desuperheater, biological safety cabinets, a cryogenic refrigerator, a microbial detection system, a large-capacity centrifuge, a bacterial incubator, a Bio-Rad ChemDoc chemiluminescence imaging system, and other medical and scientific research equipment.

Ruan Changgeng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former chairman of the Hematology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, serves as honorary president of the hospital. Academicians Wang Zhenyi, Ruan Changgeng, Chen Saijuan, and Lu Daopei work as the hospital's chief scientists, and academician Chen Zhu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, has given great support to the hospital. The hospital's expert team consists of 210 hematology specialists from 117 top-class hospitals across China.
