Hainan Resort Software Community is located in Laocheng town of Chengmai county, Hainan province, with an overall planned area of 15.58 square kilometers. In 2021, the industrial park generated nearly 200 billion yuan ($30 billion) in income, with its tax revenue exceeding 10 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 164.6 percent.

To support construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Hainan Resort Software Community focuses on creating a national blockchain pilot zone, using blockchain and other technologies to develop industries like digital culture and sports, digital health, as well as digital finance.

After 13 years of development, it has developed from an unused area into a major platform for Hainan's digital economy. To date, more than 12,000 companies, including domestic industry leaders Tencent, Baidu, ByteDance, and Vipshop, have established projects in the park. It has also attracted a group of outstanding scientists and engineers from Oxford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, as well as Peking University. Living and educational facilities have also been built to provide a high quality of life for talents and their families.
