Over 400 top brands from more than 50 countries around the world are due to participate in the first China International Consumer Products Expo, which is set to take place at Haikou International Convention and Exhibition Center, Hainan from May 7 to 10.

The expo will cover an exhibition area of 80,000 square meters, with 60,000 sq m to display international brands in the areas of fashion, jewelry and diamonds, high-end food and health products, tourism products and comprehensive services.

Switzerland will be the guest of honor at the upcoming expo, and more than 10 countries including Japan, France, South Korea, Canada, Ireland, and Thailand will organize delegations to participate in the event.

Dozens of brands including Hans Yachts from Germany and Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido will release new products at the expo.

Domestic and foreign duty-free business enterprises, high-end retailers, large-scale shopping malls, commercial real estate enterprises, top e-commerce and luxury e-commerce companies will host match-making sessions and seek business opportunities at the expo.

"The expo not only provides exhibition and trading opportunities for consumer products from various countries and helps them enter the Chinese market, but also creates business opportunities for consumer products from all parts of China, and other countries, to be sold across the world," Han Shengjian, head of Hainan International Economic Development Bureau.

On June 1 last year, the Master Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port was announced, making the expo more appealing to global exhibitors and consumers. The plan clarifies that products imported or on display at national-level exhibitions will enjoy a tax-free policy during the exhibition period.

"Hainan FTP is a very important market for the Kao Group and we will make full use of the platform to release our flagship and high-end brands", said a person-in-charge from the Japanese skincare company Kao Group.

US-based Tapestry Group will participate in the expo with the latest products from its three brands Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weiztman, according to Yann Bozec, president of Tapestry Asia-Pacific.

The consumer fair is an ideal platform for global high-end brands to enter the Chinese market, understand the preferential policies of the Hainan FTP, and form a relationship with Chinese consumers, he added, saying that Tapestry will upgrade its strategic business layout in accordance with the latest Hainan FTP policies.
