From Feb 11 to 17, South China's Hainan province saw a total of 4,588,400 visits and achieved a total tourism income of 5.82 billion yuan ($897.87 million). The province's scenic spots received 2,872,900 tourists, with its A-level tourist attractions hosting 1.84 million tourists.
In response to the government's call for people to stay put during the Spring Festival as part of anti-epidemic measures, new forms of tourism became important in terms of stimulating tourist spending in Hainan, according to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province.
Due to COVID-19 and other factors, the number of tourists visiting Hainan during the Spring Festival holiday declined, but it became a good opportunity for Hainan hotels to reduce prices and improve the quality of their services.
