Some 25 expats from Belarus, Comoros, and Uzbekistan joined their Chinese friends in Sanya on Sept 19 to experience the festive atmosphere and appreciate traditional Chinese culture during an activity to mark the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar, falling on Oct 1 this year.
While participating in the activity, the foreigners learned to make mooncakes, a must-eat delicacy for the Mid-Autumn Festival, took part in a Chinese folk culture and custom quiz, as well as experienced interactive events like painting and marshmallow making.
The event enabled the expats to learn more about traditional Chinese activities. They also learned more about Sanya and its inclusiveness, inspiring them to contribute to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
