The sixth National Poverty Relief Day in China falls on Oct 17, and Hainan province is organizing a variety of online and offline activities to help people in poverty-stricken areas.
The island province will also organize special poverty relief fairs in 18 counties and cities for poor households to sell their agricultural products.
This year's National Poverty Relief Day will also be the first anniversary for the launch of Hainan's special poverty relief website www.hainanfp.com, which is the main match-making platform for poor households with distinctive produce and customers in need of fresh agricultural products.
The website has rolled out a special express delivery service to ensure that customers in Hainan can receive the vegetables, meat, and eggs they ordered online as quickly as in one day.
According to statistics, the province's sales of poverty alleviation products as of Sep 30 amounted to 67.5million yuan ($9.5 million), benefiting about 65,300 households.
Sales reaching 19.8 million yuan, including 7.1 million yuan in online sales and 12.7 million yuan in offline sales, has been completed via www.hainanfp.com, on which 695 products were put up for sale.
A total of 776 poverty alleviation fairs have been organized in cities and counties across the province, achieving offline sales of 47.3 million yuan.
