Xiuwen schools open sports facilities to the public

Since the autumn semester of 2023, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has opened 46 school sports facilities to the public.

Non-residential schools in the county have extended their hours from Monday to Friday from 7 pm to 9 pm. On weekends, holidays, and winter and summer vacations, the facilities are open to the public free of charge from 9 am to 5 pm.

To further strengthen security at the sports facilities, each school has designated personnel responsible for their management, maintenance, and repair.

Additionally, each school has carried out inspections to identify any potential safety hazards related to the opened facilities, equipment, and apparatus. Any safety risks that can be rectified have been promptly addressed, and those that cannot be immediately resolved have been marked with safety reminders or will remain closed.

In 2023, Xiuwen has allocated a budget of 2.72 million yuan ($374,114.56) for the maintenance and repairs of school sports facilities. Since their opening, nearly 9,000 people have used them.
