Xiuwen shines at Guiyang Art Exhibition for People with Disabilities

The 8th Guiyang Art Exhibition for People with Disabilities opened at the Guiyang Art Museum in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on May 17, with 224 pieces of works on display.

The featured works included 51 paintings, 43 pieces of calligraphy, 48 photographic works, 53 handicraft works, and 29 pieces made by children with autism.

Xiuwen county in Guiyang contributed four different types of works aside from paintings, winning two gold awards, two bronze awards, and eight excellence awards.

This marks Xiuwen's most successful performance to date at either a provincial or municipal art exhibition for people with disabilities.

The youngest winner was 8 years old and the oldest was aged 52.

In recent years, with the strong support of provincial and municipal authorities at all levels, Xiuwen has trained a group of outstanding art and sports talents relying on the county's special education schools.
