Xiuwen launches array of spring activities

A series of flower-viewing activities were held in Shaxi village of Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province on March 13.

The activities kicked off with a Chinese drum performance, while a cheongsam show featuring elegant traditional cheongsam with beautiful music was also staged.

In addition to performances, visitors were able to experience the tradition of pounding cooked sticky rice.

Shaxi village is home to 500 mu (33.35 hectares) of vibrant cole flowers, which are at their best viewing period. Visitors can wander around the flower fields along footpaths, enjoy the sea of golden flowers, and take in the pleasant aroma.

The local government will also organize short video and photography competitions from March 27 to April 7, providing a platform for people to showcase the flowers.
