The main project of the 30,000-mu (2,000-hectare) high-standard farmland initiative, which began in October 2022, is nearing completion in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The project focuses on the implementation of "six projects": land leveling, irrigation and drainage, field roads, farmland ecological protection, farmland fertility improvement, and farmland power transmission and distribution.

After completion, the accessibility of field roads will rise to more than 90 percent, and the effective irrigation rate will reach more than 80 percent.

The high-standard farmland construction project in the Qingjiang and Qingshui areas of Jiuchang sub-street was launched in November last year. The construction content includes leveling 961 mu of land, and garden renovations to the scale of 204 mu.

At present, the land leveling portion of the project has been completed, and the small ridges that were used to plant low-maintenance corn have now been expanded into large fields that are suitable for mechanized farming.

In the project area, 11.2 kilometers of field roads will be built, two water pumping stations will be repaired, and a 1,500-cubic-meter reservoir will be built. It will also be equipped with 4,960 meters of water supply pipelines and irrigation and distribution pipe networks that span 17.95 km.
