In 2017, Wang Youfu, a villager, returned home and transformed his house into the Guiyang Fuya B&B, which offers catering, accommodation, leisure and entertainment.
Seeing how well Wang's B&B was doing, nearby villagers began renovating their idle houses, boosting rural summer tourism in Xingfu village.
Xingfu village has so far developed 33 rural B&Bs, of which 23 are in normal operation and 10 are under construction. They can accommodate a combined 500 tourists at one time. The development of B&Bs has allowed many surplus laborers in the village to find employment nearby.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, rural tourism in Xingfu village remains strong. So far, local B&Bs have received more than 200 summer orders from all over the country.
