Xiuwen's Liutown town promotes smart agriculture

Liutong town in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has promoted the development of smart agriculture, publicized new types of agricultural machinery, and strengthened the construction of high-standard farmlands.

Thus, the town has achieved a bumper harvest, with the quality of agricultural products improving and laying a solid foundation for rural vitalization.

By carrying out 2,300 corn combination experiments and demonstrations, the town has selected high-yield corn varieties suitable for the Guiyang area and the mid-altitude area of about 1,000 meters above sea level.

So far, 45,600 mu (3,040 hectares) of grain has been planted, as well as 2,940 mu of corn and soybean compound and 2,760,000 mu of soybeans.

In the process of developing smart agriculture, Liutong town promotes the deep integration of new-generation information technologies such as the internet of things, big data, and artificial intelligence with agricultural production and operation.

"The park has perfected technologies such as the integrated water and fertilizer drip irrigation system, big data traceability system, management of the cultivation of traction branches, and cultivation of green biological prevention and control," said Lu Yangchun, head of the Xiuwen Xiangyang Plantation Farmers Professional Cooperative.

Moving forwards, Liutong town will continue to promote the development of corn and soybean complex planting, and develop morels and pumpkin according to local conditions, to accelerate the development of agricultural modernization, and improve the comprehensive benefits of grain cultivation.
