More guidance on restoration and conservation work for the environment and the ecology of Xiuwen county – administered by Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was on offer recently, with the visit of a high-powered research team.
The Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning sent the team there on Feb 28, led by senior official Ji Hongfan, to provide their expertise and know-how and give recommendations on future courses of action.
A working session on Guiyang's second round of environmental protection supervision was held in the morning. Officials from natural resource departments exchanged opinions on existing problems and corresponding solutions. Restoration work of local mines was a main focal point of the discussion.
The research team then visited two mines in the afternoon. Mine operators and related enterprises were urged to strengthen their responsibility and accountability systems, to ensure all the requirements put forward by the team were addressed properly and in a timely manner.
