Brand value of Xiuwen kiwi fruit reaches 2.34b yuan

The geographical indication regional brand "Xiuwen Kiwi Fruit" has brand strength of 836 and a brand value of 2.34 billion yuan ($361.03 million), according to the China Council for Brand Development.

In recent years, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken kiwi fruit planting as its main industry. As a result, it has built a national modern agricultural industrial park.

It has also planned a mountain characteristic agricultural production area, agricultural product processing and logistics trading area, the Yangming cultural experience area and a leisure agriculture theme park to create a prosperous industry-leading area with outstanding brands, reasonable business formats, significant benefits and good ecological environment.

At present, the planting area of the Xiuwen kiwi fruit industry has reached 167,000 mu (11,133.33 hectares), the fruit-bearing area is about 100,000 mu, and the output of fresh fruit is about 60,000 metric tons.

A total of 169 enterprises, 130 cooperatives and 6,727 farmers participate in the planting.

In the development of the kiwi fruit industry, Xiuwen has attached great importance to the quality of its kiwi fruit, strengthened management and cultivated demonstration pilots, striving to enhance the brand awareness and market competitiveness of Xiuwen kiwi fruit.

The China-New Zealand Kiwi Fruit Belt and Road Joint Laboratory Guizhou Center settled in Xiuwen on June 4, which will bring strong scientific, technological and talent support to the standardization and brand development of the kiwi fruit industry.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Xiuwen will continue to strengthen and optimize the kiwi fruit industry. The planting area of its specialty fruits, mainly kiwi fruit, will reach 350,000 mu by 2025.
