Fuxing village in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, Guizhou province is rich in agricultural products, such as honey plums and small-leaf Kuding tea.
However, transportation has always been a big headache for villagers, because there is no available road that connects the agricultural parks together. Raw materials, as well as finished products, have to be carried by men or horses.
But this primitive transport way is expected to be changed soon by five locals - Jiao Honghua, Hu Bangwei, Hu Xuegang, Hu Sheng and Jiao Yi - who have risen to the occasion and offered to build a road that will link all the agricultural areas together.
They have sponsored and designed the road construction by themselves, shaping the route into a “necklace”that will wind through every agricultural park.
Other villagers also supported the construction by donating nearly 20,000 yuan ($3,000) collectively to the road work.
Since construction started in March, a 3-kilometer stretch has already been completed.
In addition, Jiao Honghua and Hu Bangwei have spent an extra 18,000 yuan in upgrading the aging local water supply pipeline systems.
