Logistics industrial park breaks ground in Xiuwen county

Construction of the new Guizhou Heli Smart Ecological Logistics Industrial Park started on March 31 -- a planned facility ranked as a significant project for Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The project is located at the Jiuchang Yongxing Industrial Park in Xiuwen county, covering an area of 486.78 mu (32.45 hectares), with an investment of about 800 million yuan ($122.34 million).

Divided into two phases, the agricultural products logistics project will build a room temperature distribution center, a fresh food distribution center, a processing center and a frozen distribution center.

A storage area covering 30,000 square meters in phase one will be completed and start operating on Oct 30, which is expected to generate annual sales of 20 billion yuan.

After the project is fully completed, it will reportedly become the most comprehensive, well-equipped and most internationalized trade and logistics center in the province.

It is designed to supply fresh, high-quality and affordable Guizhou agricultural products worth over 5 billion yuan within and outside the province and every year. The facility is also expected to help more than 200,000 rural households to increase their incomes and provide jobs for more than 20,000 people.

"The completion of the project can complete the integration of the supply chain, manage the quantity, quality and variety of agricultural products through deep processing and fine processing," said Zhang Yonghong, vice-president of Guizhou Heli Mart Group.

"Fast and efficient distribution reduces the circulation links and will improve the freshness and quality of agricultural products," Zhang added.
