Xiuwen county to add 21,510 school places in five years

In the next five years, Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will add 21,510 school places to meet the growing demand for education, according to the district's education bureau.

Under the initiative, the county will build and expand 20 schools -- including Xiuwen No 5 Middle School, Zhazuo No 4 Primary School and Jiuchang No 2 Primary School -- with a total land area of 533,200 square meters and a planned total investment of 1.45 billion yuan ($220.95 million).

During the period, the county will also improve its public and inclusive preschool education system.

It will also increase balanced and integrated urban and rural education, expand the construction of high-quality high schools and promote the quality improvement of vocational education.
