Xiuwen County People's Hospital -- in Xiuwen county in Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- issued its first electronic bill on Nov 13, taking it further down the path of its development as a smart hospital.

The electronic bill is uniformly supervised by the finance department. It is a digital receipt issued by a non-profit medical and health institution -- for outpatient services, emergencies, hospitalization and other services.

The new service marks another step forward in the informatization of Xiuwen County People's Hospital to paperless processing and is another exploration of developing a smart hospital by using big data and high-tech methods.

In order to enable patients to obtain their electronic bills in time, the hospital has set up reminders and signs in various eye-catching locations.

During the transitional period for the promotion of financial electronic bills, the hospital is also providing designated window services for patients who need to print their electronic bills.

The launch of the new invoicing system makes it convenient for patients to access their records of all medical expenses in a mobile form, so they can avoid standing in long lines.

It is especially useful during the novel coronavirus outbreak, providing a contactless and highly efficient service.

It effectively reduces gathering and is playing an important role in the prevention and control of the epidemic.
