Key projects in Xiuwen set to boost education

Construction began on 13 key projects on April 28 in the county of Xiuwen, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, which is set to provide a boost to the education sector there.

A total investment of 727 million yuan ($107 million) will go to the three projects in the primary industry, five in the secondary industry and five in the tertiary industry, with investments of 51 million yuan, 131 million yuan and 544 million yuan, respectively.

One of the highlights is an education base, which will be built by the end of this year with an investment of 320 million yuan.

It will have 84 classes, including 48 in high school and 36 in junior middle school.

There will be two teaching buildings, one multi-function building and an administrative building, covering a combined floor space of 120,000 square meters. Other work will involve roads, sport facilities and greening.

On completion, it will enroll 4,200 students, including 2,400 high school students.
