In the first quarter (Q1) of the year, the government of Xiuwen county, Guiyang city, capital of Southwest Guizhou province, stepped up its support to help local enterprises resume work and production in an orderly manner, boosting economic recovery during the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Its general budget revenue reached 207 million yuan ($30.3 million) in Q1, up 2.1 percent against the same period last year, while general income from tourism increased by 26.2 percent to 3.69 billion yuan.

Growth in added value by industries above a designated size -- those with an annual sales revenue surpassing 20 million yuan -- during the same period fell by 7.3 percent compared with the previous Q1.

Fixed-asset investment, retail sales of consumer goods above the designated size and foreign trade came in at 4.52 billion yuan, 129 million yuan and $1.3 million --up 20.43 percent, 20.3 percent and 18 percent respectively year on year.

Furthermore, Xiuwen recorded a 149 percent year-on-year jump to $27.37 million actually utilized foreign capital in Q1. Industrial project funds in Q1 came in at 132.18 percent of its target.

Guizhou's normal economic order has been restored gradually, as the province has downgraded the novel coronavirus risk level to low.

Xiuwen will strive to finish its Q2 development goals, based on economic indicators, to ensure the achievement of full-year goals.

The efforts will include problem-solving and capital subsidies support. This will facilitate businesses to resume production.
