The Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Park in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken a number of measures to ensure the adequate supply of vegetables and the stability of prices since the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

Before the outbreak of the epidemic, the park had been well-prepared with the supply of goods during the Spring Festival, with an average daily total supply of more than 6,000 metric tons.

As soon as the epidemic occurred -- in accordance with the requirements of the Guiyang municipal Party committee and the municipal government -- the leadership of the park convened an emergency meeting to formulate a mechanism for ensuring supply and stabilizing prices.

The park put together advance plans to guide merchants to resume their business on the second day of the first month of the lunar calendar, expanding the scope of procurement and providing incentives for suppliers to ensure an adequate supply.

It also strengthened its supervision of procurements,. It closely monitored the demand and transaction prices of important daily necessities such as vegetables, meat and eggs.

In addition, the park advised merchants not to drive up prices during special periods and suggested buyers purchase rationally and not blindly follow trends, so as to ensure the steady supply of goods in the market.

"By Feb 12, the average daily trading volume of vegetables in the park reached about 2,000 tons and the stock of vegetables was 3,193 tons," Tang Yihe, deputy general manager of the park said.

"As it was the off-season for local vegetables, more than 75 percent of the vegetables came from Yunnan, Guangxi, Sichuan and other places," Tang added.

The park is the province's largest comprehensive wholesale market -- with a variety of agricultural products covering vegetables, fruits, edible fungi, meat, grain, oil and frozen food -- which can meet the one-stop procurement needs of large supermarkets.

A number of large-scale commercial and supermarket enterprises have settled in the park, with a daily purchase volume of more than 800 tons.
