Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Development Co Ltd in Xiuwen county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been employing various different approaches to help reduce poverty and so far more than 5,000 impoverished people have benefited.

The company has established a sales area in its logistics park for various agricultural products from districts and counties in Guizhou province. Poverty alleviation bases in the province that set up stands in the special zone can enjoy exemptions from rents or commissions.

Since its opening, staff members from Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Park have visited more than 10 poverty-stricken villages -- including Ronglei village in Changshun county -- to facilitate the sales of local farm produce.

For those poverty alleviation bases incapable of broadening their sales channels, the park has organized agricultural brokers to directly purchase their products.

Currently, the poverty alleviation zone in the park has sold more than 7,000 metric tons of farm products, worth 20 million yuan ($2.93 million).

The park has also provided financial support to help alleviate poverty. Those who operate in the park and are identified as impoverished, in line with related requirements, will be helped to set up special files. This means they are qualified to get unsecured and low-interest loans from financial institutions that they are introduced to by the park.

According to statistics, 45 districts and counties -- including Huishui and Xiuwen counties -- have signed up with more than 30 poverty alleviation bases and cooperatives, to sell agricultural products through the park.

These agricultural producers manage more than 50,000 mu (3,333.33 hectares) of cultivated land and have helped more than 15,000 people increase their incomes.
