To promote higher quality and efficiency in agriculture while increasing farmers' incomes, the agricultural and rural affairs bureau of Wudang district in Guiyang recruited six agricultural technicians, including Liao Chenlu and Yang Yongsheng. These experts are providing technical guidance and consulting services to support the development of the district's grain, oil, and specialty agriculture industries.
Hu Tingzhong, a major farmer in the district's Guaijiu village, planted 80 mu (5.33 hectares) of honey plum trees, but was consistently faced with low fruit yields. Recently, after expressing his concerns to the village committee, the village secretary decided to seek help from the agricultural technicians. Upon receiving the call, Liao and Yang visited Guaijiu village and conducted a detailed diagnosis and analysis of the issue.
"The main problem lies in orchard management. Branch training, pruning, and pest and disease control haven't been properly handled, which has led to low fruit yields. Now that it's autumn, you need to focus on fertilizer and water management, primarily using organic fertilizer. Additionally, you should remove diseased leaves and weeds from the orchard to keep it clean and reduce the breeding environment for pests and diseases..." said Yang, who has extensive experience in fruit cultivation, offering technical advice on how to improve both the yield and quality of the honey plums.
"Thank you for your guidance and suggestions. I realize now that I need to learn more about the proper techniques," said Hu, now feeling much more confident about improving his honey plum crop.
