A cultural performance show marking the start of the 2024 Summer Retreat Season in Yangchang town, Wudang district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was held on July 28 at the Shuidong Cultural Plaza. The event, meticulously organized by local and visiting art enthusiasts, provided a rich cultural experience.
The vibrant show featured energetic singing and dancing, humorous crosstalks, and tai chi performances, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The event also included dragon dances and ethnic parade performances. The lively drumming and swirling dragon, accompanied by the joyful leaps of the parade participants, delighted the crowd and prompted cheers and photo-taking.
To enhance interaction between Yangchang town and its visitors as well as to showcase local culture, the town adopted a "government sets the stage, visitors perform" approach, inviting art lovers among visitors who stay long in the town for summer retreats to collaborate on the event, and coordinated with local cultural departments to include professional teams in tai chi, fitness qigong, and square dancing. The festival integrated local folk culture and intangible cultural heritage performances, creating a spectacular audio-visual feast for the audience.
