Butterfly Lovers staged in Wudang

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Fan Ruijuan's birth, a Yueju Opera special performance was staged in Wudang district, Guiyang, on May 4. The performance featured the Yueju Opera "The Butterfly Lovers", and over 100 Yueju Opera enthusiasts attended.

Fan Ruijuan's pioneering Yueju Opera "Fan School" art has become the aesthetic model for females playing male roles in Yueju Opera. Throughout her more than 50-year stage career, she portrayed over 100 characters. Characters such as Liang Shanbo, Jiao Zhongqing, Zheng Yuanhe, He Laoliu, Guo Ai, and Lu You have become eternal classics in the memories of the audience, leaving behind a valuable treasure for the Yueju Opera stage.

This time, the actors carefully selected classic scenes from the legendary "The Butterfly Lovers", such as "Caoqiao Jiebai," "Tuomei," "Shiba Xiangsong," and "Sizhu", for interpretation. The heartfelt and delicate performances, melodious singing, and beautiful lyrical style deeply touched everyone present with the beautiful story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai and their unwavering love.
