In recent days, the Wudang bureau of science and technology has organized municipal-level science and technology experts to lead spring plowing and sowing work, in a bid to provide technical guidance to local agricultural enterprises.
Located in Xinpu Bouyei township, the Guiyang Wudang Qisong Vegetable Planting Professional Cooperative planted over 300 mu (20 hectares) of high-quality rice this year, and increased its grain planting area by transforming fallow and dry land into usable farmland.
The science and technology experts came to the cooperative and provided technical guidance to farmers on various aspects, including introducing special and high-quality crop varieties, soaking seeds in biogas slurry, applying base fertilizer, laying seedling trays, seeding in a measured manner, and standardizing mulching work.
The experts also visited the kiwifruit planting base in Daqiao village, where they inspected the growth of kiwifruit. They also advised farmers to use scientific methods to protect their crops, such as solar insect traps and aerial spraying to control diseases and pests.
They also recommended improving water and fertilizer utilization through targeted irrigation with water-soluble fertilizers and leaving grass in the orchard but removing harmful weeds. These actions aim to reduce the amount of fertilizers and pesticides used while increasing their effectiveness.
