Since 2022, Xinpu village in Wudang district has adopted a "Three ones" development model, "one household + one land + one farm", to increase villagers' incomes.

The model refers to a village mobilizing villagers to voluntarily exchange their arable land and concentrates villagers' lands to develop industries at scale by establishing family farms.

In the past, the village's lands were too scattered and small in area to use machinery and enlarge the scale of industries. The new model has successfully resolved this issue.

Lin Zhengfu, a farmer among the first batch of villagers to exchange their land, said that this year he planted more than 30 mu (2 hectares) of watermelons, which is expected to bring him an income of about 100,000 yuan ($13,670).

In addition, the village has also made efforts to broaden the sales channels to guarantee villagers' incomes, maintaining their entrepreneurial motivation.

The model has not only effectively solved the issue of arable land being abandoned, but also provided tourists with a place to pick fruit, driving the development of the agricultural tourism industry and boosting rural vitalization.
