Wudang pursues green development

As one of the practice and innovation bases of the concept "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," Wudang district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is embarking on the path to green development.

Great efforts have been made in terms of boosting environmentally-friendly industry development, building a more beautiful and livable city and advancing the development of the tourism industry.

Environmentally-friendly industry development

In recent years, Wudang has made strong efforts to build a modern industrial cluster that is dominated by the health and pharmaceutical industries and features electronic information manufacturing, with the coordinated development of key industries such as equipment manufacturing and food processing.

A pharmaceutical industry chain integrating pharmaceutical research and development, production, packaging, logistics, medical services and pharmaceutical breeding has been initially formed in Wudang.

There are more than 70 large health and pharmaceutical industry projects to be constructed or under construction in Wudang, with a total investment of nearly 70 billion yuan ($10.59 billion).

Moreover, focusing on the manufacturing of basic components, electronic materials, and electromechanical components, Wudang has built an industrial system featuring electronic information. The total output value of electronic information manufacturing there has exceeded 20 billion yuan.

Elsewhere, the digital economy in Wudang has been growing rapidly, and digital technology and the real economy have been deeply integrated.

In 2021, the operating income of the internet and related software and information technology services above designated size in Wudang reached 3.92 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 579.55 percent.

A more beautiful and livable city

In recent years, Wudang district has accelerated the construction of transportation infrastructure such as the Wudang section of Metro Line 3 and Dongxin Road, as well as the development of areas along Shiyan Road and around the Wudang district hospital.

More efforts have been made to develop the building economy and headquarters, build urban business circles and mid-to-high-end shopping centers, and continue to improve the carrying capacity, competitiveness and comprehensive strength of Wudang district.

Moving forward, Wudang will work to speed up the construction of urban and rural infrastructure and continuously improve urban public services.

Advance tourism industry development

Wudang plans to build itself into a hot spring caring demonstration zone and a tourism integration demonstration zone.

It will make full use of hot springs, the culture related to the Communist Party of China and local ethnic culture to improve its tourism attractiveness, tourism services and tourism facilities.

In 2021, the tourism revenue of Wudang district reached 9.27 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.42 percent.

By 2025, Wudang is expected to have an average annual growth of 25 percent in total tourism revenue and 10 percent average annual growth in tourism per capita consumption, and add five tourism enterprises above designated size and two national 4A-level tourist attractions.
