Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 502,400 visitors during the recent New Year's Day holiday, generating a total income of 131 million yuan ($20.29 million).
Local authorities said that during the three-day holiday from Jan 1 to 3, all scenic spots and cultural and entertainment venues in the district implemented strict COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures, and no emergencies occurred.
To attract visitors, local tourist destinations and hotels launched a series of nearly 10 online preferential activities. Also, local media platforms devoted plenty of coverage for promoting tourism.
The district's culture, sports, radio, television and tourism bureau also conducted inspections on fire protection, safety preparations and market conditions at scenic spots, hotels and cultural and entertainment venues to ensure that visitors had a safe and enjoyable experience.
