Cherries in Yanshan village, Xiaba township of Wudang, Guiyang have gained great popularity on the market. The juicy fruit has made the town, which is 29 kilometers away from Guiyang's downtown, a hot tourist destination in recent years.
By taking advantage of the climate in the geothermal valley where the township lies, cherry planting has been scaled up in the area, covering 4,500 mu (300 hectares) now.
A special kind cherry, called "American black pearl," covers 800 mu in the plantation. It enjoys wide market appeal due to its sweet and juicy flavor, as well as for their longer storage period.
In 2010, the Xiaba brand was officially registered, adding to the brand line-up of the district's fruit industry.
