At the construction site of the China Southern Energy Big Data Center, located in Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, workers are doubling down to complete the center as quickly as possible, tying rebar, and building walls and bricks.

"At present, 40 percent of the center is complete," said Wang Junhao, the project manager.

The center involves a total investment of 1.45 billion yuan ($204.45 million). Firstly, as a network-level computing power and data storage center, it will fully meet the long-term computing power and centralized data storage needs of China Southern Power Grid Co.

It will also aggregate data from all stages of energy production, transmission, storage, consumption, and trading. This will help create digital government and new power system applications, forming energy big data products and improving government energy regulation and macroeconomic analysis.

As the core area of the country's first comprehensive big data pilot zone, Gui'an New Area has attracted a total of 20 such large data centers to date.
