Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone – in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently held talks with leading Japanese manufacturer YKK Group, which is based in Tokyo.

Chang Wensong, executive Party deputy secretary of the zone, held a meeting on Oct 28 with the head of YKK's subsidiary in China, Matsumoto Akihiro.

Chang gave a briefing on current business conditions in the zone, its regional advantages and its economic and social development.

He said that the zone was developing itself as a leading airport innovation economy area and an international supply chain hub, by leveraging its core advantages.

The zone's development layout – integrating a core area, four other areas and an urban green network – has been formed, offering a sound foundation for industrial development, Chang said.

He called for further talks between the two sides and for more business, with sales of high-end building material products as an entry point. Chang said the zone would also continue to improve its business environment to offer high-quality services.

Matsumoto Akihiro gave a background presentation on YKK's development and current situation in China. The group, which is the biggest manufacturer of zippers in the world, among other things, entered the Chinese market over 20 years ago.

Matsumoto said it has combined advanced technological concepts with the different geographical and climatic characteristics of China and has designed three series of doors and windows products to fully satisfy the residential living needs of people in different parts of China.

Guizhou has achieved remarkable results in high-end building materials in recent years, the Japanese executive said.

He added that his group had every confidence in the area's huge potential and sound business environment. Akihiro added that it would actively seek out cooperation, so as to be part of the high-quality economic and social development of the zone.
