Membranes developed in Guiyang exported worldwide

Vontron Technology Co, located in the Guizhou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, recently experienced a boost in production.

The publicly-traded company specializes in research and development, manufacturing, and sale of separation membranes and related materials.

A membrane undergoes various processes to become a membrane component product. It is approximately 0.14 millimeters thick, equivalent to the thickness of a human hair.

Each membrane contains countless tiny pores, with diameters in the sub-nanometer range. One nanometer is equivalent to one 80,000th of the diameter of a human hair, and one sub-nanometer is even smaller.

Wu Zongce, the company's deputy general manager, said that the filtration precision of membranes is exceptionally high, and they are primarily used to remove harmful substances such as bacteria, viruses, and heavy metal ions from water.

In recent years, the company has been focusing on high-end membrane products that feature resistance to pollution, high flux, acid and alkali resistance, and high pressure. It has expanded into blue ocean markets such as zero emission, new energy, the phosphorus chemical industry, and wastewater treatment.

The company's research team is particularly proud of its alkali-resistant nanofiltration membrane. In the textile industry, the alkali-resistant nanofiltration membrane is referred to as the "wastewater purification magic wand".

In 2019, the company officially launched domestically-developed and mass-produced alkali-resistant nanofiltration membrane products, reducing the cost of treating wastewater produced from dyeing and printing by 40 percent for Chinese textile enterprises.

"Currently, the greatest demand for reverse osmosis membranes internationally is still in seawater desalination," said Liu Xia, deputy director of the company's international marketing department.

Vontron Technology has scaled up production to include more than 20 series of membrane products, including seawater desalination membranes and anti-pollution membranes. They have been widely used in areas such as seawater desalination.

Over the past year, Vontron Technology's overseas orders have continued to grow, with products exported to more than 130 countries and regions, including India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam.
