The Guiyang bureau of science and technology, located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has in recent years unwaveringly focused on the development of high-tech enterprises as a key task, pushing to attract more and more sci-tech innovation drivers including expertise, technology, achievements and information.

Data shows that from 2016 to 2020, the number of high-tech enterprises in Guiyang continued to rise, at an overall growth rate of 317.24 percent.

In January this year, Guiyang issued a plan specifying that by 2025, the number of high-tech enterprises in the city and nearby Guian New Area would top 2,000, the number of high-tech enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.98 million) or more – would reach 500 and the total industrial output value of high-tech enterprises would reach 200 billion yuan.

Since March, the bureau has given subsidies of 100,000 to 200,000 yuan to business entities registered in Guiyang and recognized as national high-tech enterprises in 2021.

The Guiyang Red Mud Comprehensive Utilization Research Institute, jointly constructed by the Guiyang Aluminum Industry Technology Innovation Center and Guizhou Huajin Aluminum Co, was opened on June 17, indicating that Guiyang was at the forefront of the red mud utilization and oxidation sector. Red mud is used in the industrial sector for iron recovery or metal extraction and smelting and as a result of the establishment of the center, a key step was said to have been taken in the green coordinated development of the aluminum industry.

"This year, we will continue to do our best to cultivate high-tech enterprises, set up special classes for aluminum and aluminum processing industries in Guiyang, and provide corporate services and policy training," said a senior official at the bureau.
