High-tech innovation powers development in Guiyang

Guiyang city – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is currently going from strength to strength in terms of its high-quality development, which is being powered by high-tech innovation.

The city has in recent years prioritized innovation as being core to its overall development and its capacity for independent innovation has significantly improved.

In 2020, Guiyang ranked 24th among 72 key cities around the country and ranked first in Guizhou province in terms of key indicators reflecting the intensity of R&D investment and the number of high-tech enterprises, respectively. As a result, its supporting and leading role in the region has been enhanced.

In 2021, the city signed 87 projects in the information transmission, software and information technology service industries, worth a total of 7.21 billion yuan ($1.08 billion).

During the recent China International Big Data Industry Expo 2022, through a leading scientific and technological achievements and technology matchmaking meeting, three award-winning sci-tech enterprises – including the Beijing Computing Center – signed agreements with partners in Guizhou.

In recent years, the Guiyang bureau of science and technology has provided targeted training based on the actual needs of technology-based enterprises at different development stages and it has given subsidies of 47.6 million yuan to 405 high-tech companies.

Additionally, the bureau has issued reforms to improve the efficiency of resident groups. These have helped key projects in industrial science and technology and general projects – among other things – and have also assisted their overall development plans and sci-tech talent development plans.
