Staff members at the Guiyang bureau of science and technology – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently undertook a series of voluntary activities relating to scientific and technological assistance.
On March 18, the bureau and the Guanjinglu community carried out a voluntary activity to publicize information about garbage classification in Nanming district of Guiyang. It's understood that as a result, the public's understanding of the subject has improved.
The bureau set up a science and technology volunteer service team, taking it to the countryside to offer grassroots assistance and to start technical service activities.
Based on the spring ploughing and farmers' needs, on March 21, the team gave detailed explanations on efficient corn sowing methods, field management and pest control – also handing out corn seeds to nearly 30 villagers.
For their part, the villagers reportedly said that through the training they had mastered new planting techniques and other skills.
Additionally, to improve their farming skills, the team travelled to three villages in Kaiyang county to offer advice. While solving technological problems, the team focused on publicizing new technology and policies.
