In the 2021 "Innovation China" list of 65 pilot cities or parks, the city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is said to have ranked third overall.
Elsewhere, the Guizhou big data regional science and technology service team won the title for "excellent science and technology service team" in the Innovation China list.
"It took less than four months for our team to get this honor from the official registration of the company," said the elated Wen Jinghua, head of the team.
"The achievement benefits from the tacit cooperation of the whole team and depends on Guiyang's attention to its construction as a pilot city for Innovation China," Wen added.
In its efforts to become a pilot city, Guiyang identified 100 high-quality industrial service needs and established a long-term service mechanism for two industry-university collaborative organizations. It completed 51 technical consultations, 10 technical training sessions, 20 technical promotions and applications and recruited 101 experts.
Through the organization of online and offline training, Guiyang promoted 1,138 high-tech enterprises, big data enterprises and industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.1 million) or more – to register as users of the Innovation China Rongtong platform, with an access rate of 90 percent.
Moving forwards, plans are for the city to speed up its development as a pilot city and integrate into the national innovation network – to boost Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area's scientific and technological innovation capabilities, as well as the integrated development of science and commerce.
