Guiyang eyes tech support for agricultural development

Officials from the Guiyang bureau of science and technology on Feb 14 visited the offices of the Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Group, in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to discuss business ventures, according to local media reports.

The two parties exchanged views on strengthening overall cooperation, as well as jointly building an agricultural industry innovation center.

Bureau director Zhang Yu said that the Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Group was a leading enterprise in the investment and construction of agricultural projects in Guizhou province. He said the bureau was attaching great importance to its dealings with the company.

For its part, the sci-tech bureau will provide more project and financial support to the company, as well as accelerate the commercialization of agricultural scientific and technological achievements.

At the same time, plans are for the bureau to boost exchanges with the company and jointly build an agricultural industry innovation center, as well as promote exchanges and cooperation between the company and well-known universities at home and abroad.

Wang Zuze, an executive of the company, said that with the rapid development of the company's industry, the need for scientific and technological support had become more urgent, especially in the utilization of seed resources, research into agricultural varieties and support breeding and planting technology.

He called for a deeper level of cooperation with the bureau, so as to jointly build an academician station and an agricultural science and technology innovation platform to achieve high-quality development.
