Guiyang, Guian launch sci-tech week activities

A series of activities for the 2021 science and technology week for Guiyang city, the Guian New Area and Guiyang-administered Qingzhen city were launched at the Guiyang Sports Culture Park in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- on May 22.

It was also the launch ceremony for Guizhou's promotion of science and technology culture, as well as health in rural areas.

Held both offline and online, the launch ceremony included a retrospective of scientific and technological developments in the last 100 years, as well as cultural and art performances.

It is expected that the series of activities will promote scientific knowledge and practical technologies to rural residents, as well as outstanding cultural works, so as to enrich residents' cultural lives and help drive rural revitalization.

In addition, activities will be organized in communities, schools, companies and military camps. This is seen as promoting sci-tech knowledge, helping enhance farmers' skills, publicizing sci-tech security, as well as advancing sci-tech innovation, among others.

Officials said the science and technology week event has been held 20 times now in Guizhou province.

As such, it has enjoyed high public participation and a growing profile, and this year the event will feature elements celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
