Guiyang seeks cooperation with Chengdu-based university

A delegation led by Zhang Yu, head of the Guiyang Bureau of Science and Technology, visited the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, the capital city of Southwest China's Sichuan province, on March 15.

The visit aimed to further strengthen cooperation between Chengdu and Guiyang in science and technology, promote in-depth exchanges between UESTC and Guiyang enterprises, and promote sci-tech innovation and talent introduction.

Representatives from both sides attended the meeting, during which officials from Guiyang gave a brief introduction to Guiyang's industrial development and partnership expectations. Officials from the sci-tech innovation bureaus of Guian New Area and Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone also introduced their development.

Li Xuemei, Party secretary of the School of Electronic Engineering of UESTC, said that Guiyang has seized development opportunities in the big data sector and achieved gratifying results.

UESTC and Guiyang-based companies such as Zhenhua Group have stable, long-term partnerships, and the university is willing to take advantage of its disciplines to deepen cooperation in technology platforms, achievement transformation, talent training and incubator construction, she added.

Zhang said that UESTC has strong disciplines, talented individuals and scientific research advantages, and it has established research institutions in the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, playing an important role in local economic development.

He thanked the university for its support of Guiyang's enterprises, and said he hopes to learn from the successful experiences of the research institutions established by the university in Shenzhen, Chongqing and other places.

Zhang added that he expects the university to send experts to Guiyang to carry out project cooperation and technical training and to support the development of Guiyang's electronic information manufacturing industry and the digital economy industry.

Initial cooperation intention was reached during the visit. In the next phase, the Guiyang Bureau of Science and Technology will organize the city's companies to seek cooperation and attract talents from the university.
